Southern Exposures |

My first exhibit was at The Photographers’ Gallery in London in 1999 – in their Print Sales room. It was also the first place I'd ever hung a picture on a wall, in a group show in 1997.
When offered a show I was confronted with the problem, the necessity, of a name, and that became “Southern Exposures”. I bound a handful of small booklets to represent the pictures using the color copying machine at my Dad’s print shop and called it a portfolio or a “body of work.”
For me it seems best to shoot first and ask questions later. As I look now at this earliest work it seems there is very little – other than time – to separate it from the work I’ve done since. They are all part of the same ongoing exploration. |
